Support Groups

Step-by-Step Fife

Step-by-Step are support groups for bereaved adults, living in Fife, who feel socially isolated, lonely or who wish to be busy. It is a great opportunity to meet new people, widen your social connections, feel a sense of belonging and pursue common interests in a safe, relaxed and friendly environment.

Some bereaved people do not socialise as much after experiencing the loss of a loved one, or lose pleasure in activities they once enjoyed. At Step-by-Step, members do not have to talk about anything they do not want to - it is all about connecting with other members with similar experiences in a social, informal and unpressured setting.

Members are encouraged to choose guest speakers, topics, hobbies, activities and outings for Step-by-Step sessions. This may be chats over hot drinks and biscuits, relaxation exercises, music therapy, painting, crafts, quizzes, walks, potting plants, learning about community organisations or visiting local places of interest – to name a few.

Currently there are six Step-by-Step groups operating across Fife, all in-person groups in: Cupar, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Methil and Dunfermline. There's also a Walking Group which meets in various places throughout Fife. Groups are held fortnightly for around 1½ hours.
