Moira reached out to Cruse Scotland after losing her daughter and was connected with Ros, Counselling Volunteer. Moira shares her moving story in this blog article.
July 26, 2024
Moira received support from Cruse Scotland as part of the My Grief, My Way project and speaks of her experience below:
To Cruse Scotland (my special lady Ros) and My Grief, My Way:
Your willingness to listen and connect with my tears, stories and memories of my precious daughter Jennifer, has been uplifting for my heart.
You being there when you said you would, every 50 minutes of our 6 session phone calls, has made my sadness more into cherished moments and I thank you so much for this. Your offer of a final catch up call was perfect for me.
Your gentle care and compassion at all times, has lightened my load more than I think you know. Your positive supporting words during my overwhelming emotions of missing my precious Jennifer, has been so generous. I wouldn't have come this far on my sad journey, to find new and different strengths I didn't know I could find again, without Cruse by my side.
You chatted and open heartedly welcomed me to feel I could chat along too. You had a way of making me feel warm and understood, not lost or alone anymore.
I learned about ‘ new normal’ and there can be light during my journey, taking my Jennifer with me.
Cruse ‘just got me’, no rules, no right or wrong ways, just open honest chats, positive messages from Ros. Even with no face to face meetings, I felt Ros knew me well and we had a positive rapport from the start.
Ros explained about ‘continuing bonds’, I understand this and how to use my bonds with Jennifer to help me when needed. I now have a bond with Cruse Scotland.
I learned to listen and believe in myself differently now and this has been with the compassion and positive chats with Cruse Scotland.
I'll always have my Jennifer on my mind and forever in my heart. Cruse gave me tools to help me along the way and I'll always be grateful to you. I know you'll continue with your great work.
Forever grateful,
Best Regards
Moira Gilfillan
