Nicola Reed

Director of Client Services

Nicola has been with Cruse Scotland since April 2019 – initially as an Area Manager and, more recently, as the Director of Client Services. In her current role, Nicola oversees client service delivery throughout Scotland supporting the four local Area teams and the national Helpline team. As one who enjoys diversity in her role, Nicola has responsibility for coordinating our workplace support groups, is part of our Training Team, and holds lead safeguarding responsibilities within the organisation. Always enjoying a bit of networking, Nicola regularly connects in with colleagues involved in the Bereavement Charter for Scotland, local and national Bereavement Networks and is the Scottish Ambassador for AtALoss.com.

Nicola is passionate about the importance of having open conversations about death, dying and bereavement and that, combined with her love of writing and speaking, has seen her pop up in magazines, newspapers, blogs, podcasts and radio broadcasts representing the needs of the bereaved, our clients and the amazing work that our volunteers get involved with.

Prior to joining Cruse Scotland, Nicola was a Chartered Accountant for 20 years - initially working in an accountancy practice and subsequently within owner managed businesses. As well as having this giving Nicola financial and management insight within the business and charity sectors, it has also brought her some unique insights into how grief and loss impacts individuals and organisations.

When not at work, you can find Nicola spending time with her husband and two grown up children. She is actively involved in her local church, junior parkrun and is a trustee on the board of two charities. She enjoys good food, good wine, good coffee and good chat – with family, friends or colleagues!
