Port of Leith Distillery Abseil

Would you abseil off the tallest whisky distillery in the world?

May 09, 2026

Imagine standing at 131ft absorbing the views of the Edinburgh skyline as well as the historic Royal Yacht Britannia right beside you... before bravely abseiling from the iconic building you're positioned on!

Standing proudly on the waterfront, the Port of Leith Distillery is the UK’s first vertical distillery, a striking nine-storey tower wedged into Edinburgh’s historic harbour.

By taking on this brave challenge, not only will you have bragging rights and achieve something to be chuffed with for decades to come - but you can be proud of the huge difference you will make to many children, young people and adults who desperately need additional support to cope after someone close to them dies.

Your brave efforts in the abseil will offer them transformational support and hope again for the future.

We'll be on hand to help you smash your fundraising target - you'll have a dedicated fundraiser who will be here to support you, provide hints, tips and fundraising ideas, as well as lots of motivation! We'll kit you out in a Cruse Scotland T-shirt to wear on the day so you look the part too!

How to book your Abseil and support Cruse Scotland:

  • Small registration fee

If we can offer you a place, we'll ask for a non refundable £10 entry fee to show your commitment to the abseil.

  • Agree to raise a minimum of £300

This minimum fundraising target of £300 excludes Gift Aid and 75% should be raised at least two weeks before the event with the remaining 25% being added to your JustGiving page within a month following the abseil.

To secure your place or for further information, please contact fundraising@crusescotland.org.uk and we'll be back in touch if we can confirm your place, arrange entry fee and support you every step of the way.

Restrictions:

Participants must be 12 years old and over and weigh under 120kg. Accessibility: There is a lift to the top floor, which is 1 level below the roof. To get up to the roof, it requires a ladder climb of approx. 3m (vertical fire-exit style ladder) and then out of a hatch, onto the roof level. Once on the roof, there will then be another ladder climb of approx. 2m, to get onto the abseil platform (same level as the perimeter wall of the roof). Therefore this event may not be possible for those with assisted mobility needs.
