Karen is a BACP accredited counsellor, and supervisor and has specialised in grief since 2016. Her background is in the third sector, and she has led on service delivery for two national charities Child Bereavement UK and Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs, providing bereavement support, as well as serving as a trustee of Samaritans Scotland for six years.
At present Karen splits her week as director of a counselling and training company, and working within student support at Strathclyde University. She is a passionate advocate of good bereavement support and education for all, and has recently launched a podcast, Grief Unedited where guests share their experience and reflections on grief. Karen is one of the freelance trainers for Cruse Scotland and currently co-facilitates the Children and Young People Supporters course.
Outside of her passion for grief and bereavement, Karen is a registered Mindfulness Teacher, and enjoys travelling and reading.
