Professionals FAQS

Further information can be provided to you with an information resource guide for professionals. If you would like a copy of this, or have any other questions please email: support@crusescotland.org.uk

All of our offices are by appointment only. We do not have any drop in facilities.

Clients are expected to get in touch with their local admin teams once they receive an information pack to discuss next steps of support and be added to the waitlist for support in their area.

Our services are free of costs thanks to funding and donations. We do accept client donations post sessions where they can, so we can continue to deliver cost free services

Clients looking to explore counselling need to go through a telephone assessment first.

We do not guarantee that counselling will be provided. Whilst the majority of clients who undergo an ICI usually do meet criteria, we can not pre guarantee this.

If a client does not meet criteria this usually means either they have specific, complex needs out width our capability, or in most instances, they are coping with their grief in what we would call a healthy and normalised way, where intervention is not required (this is a good thing!)

Clients of Cruse Scotland can receive early support within the first six months of most recent bereavement, and we can explore counselling services there after.

We do not have interpreters on hand. We encourage professionals/clients to help provide this when support is set up/arranged. We aim to do our best to help find interpreter support where we are able.

We do not have interpreter support for our helpline. If a caller would like interpreter support, we ask that they have the interpreter help support them when they make contact with our helpline.

Our wait times do vary. On average, our wait times for Early Support are 6-8 weeks, whilst assessment wait times are 12-14 weeks, following support put in place around 26 weeks there after.

Please note these are average guidelines. We encourage clients to get in touch with us when they are ready to explore support for real time estimates.

If a client is currently undergoing counselling or therapy out width Cruse Scotland, we would not be able to support them until after their sessions have finished

We do not provide group support for multiple parties. If a family were seeking support, they would need to be referred in individually.

We do run groups from time to time, however they do not always run consistently throughout the calendar year. Please check our website, or get in touch via our support email for real time information.

Our funding only allows us to provide bereavement related support when there has been a death of a human.

If a client is seeking bereavement for pet related bereavements, we would recommend contacting Blue Cross.

Unfortunately, we do not do home/community visits. Clients are able to be supported by telephone, video or in one of our Cruse Scotland offices only.
