We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate student volunteers for second placement opportunities supporting bereaved clients across the country.
Cruse Scotland is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate student volunteers for second placement opportunities supporting bereaved clients across the country.
Applicants should be undertaking advanced counselling skills or training at SQCF Level 9, 10 or 11, or be enrolled with another equivalent validated organisation. Please note that we are not currently accepting applications from students on HND or DipHE-level courses.
A willingness to provide phone, online and face to face support is essential. If your course requires in‑person client work, we will do our best to accommodate this; however, availability depends on client demand as we operate a hybrid service.
Before beginning a placement, all volunteers must complete our two‑day Grief and Loss assessed training, taking place on 21st and 22nd March 2026. Attendance on both days is mandatory. Those who successfully complete the course will also attend a two‑hour local induction.
Training will be delivered via Zoom, so you must have access to a PC, laptop, or tablet for both days. The course includes trainer‑led sessions, skills practice, e‑learning, and role‑play activities.
The closing date for applications is Monday 23rd February 2026 at 12 noon, with interviews scheduled for the week beginning 2nd March 2026.
