Practice Placement Opportunities

Applications are now open for students looking for a Practice Placement.

Cruse Scotland is inviting passionate, caring, and motivated student volunteers to join us on placement and make a real difference to people coping with bereavement across the country.

If you’re currently studying advanced counselling skills or training at SCQF Level 9, 10 or 11, or enrolled with another equivalent validated organisation, we’d love to hear from you. (Please note we’re currently unable to accept applications from students on HND level courses.)

We’re looking for volunteers who are open to offering support by phone, online, and face to face. If your course requires in‑person client work, we’ll do everything we can to accommodate this, though availability will depend on client demand within our hybrid service.

Before starting your placement, you’ll complete our two‑day assessed Grief and Loss training, taking place on 3rd & 4th October 2026. Attendance on both days is essential. After successfully completing the course, you’ll also take part in a two‑hour local induction to help you feel confident and prepared.

Training will be delivered via Zoom, so you’ll need access to a PC, laptop, or tablet. Across the two days, you’ll take part in trainer‑led learning, skills practice, e‑learning, and role‑play activities designed to build your confidence and deepen your understanding.

Applications close on Monday 7th September 2026 at 12 noon, with interviews scheduled for the week beginning 21st September 2026

If you’re ready to grow your skills, support people through some of their most difficult moments, and be part of a compassionate community, we’d be delighted to receive your application.
